Apple TV+ has today announced “Wild Things,” a new limited series that will bring to life the extraordinary and enigmatic story of legendary magicians Siegfried & Roy. The eight-episode drama will star Jude Law (The Young Pope, “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew”) and Andrew Garfield (“Under the Banner of Heaven,” Tick, Tick…Boom!), both of whom will also serve as executive producers.
The series, based on the popular Apple Original podcast “Wild Things: Siegfried & Roy,” will chronicle the lives and legacy of the world-famous illusionists who captivated Las Vegas—and the world—with their daring acts involving white tigers, grand illusions, and a mystique that blurred the lines between fantasy and reality.
Law will portray Siegfried, while Garfield will take on the role of Roy with the show is set to enter production this fall.
“Wild Things” is written, showrun, and executive produced by John Hoffman, the six-time Emmy nominee and co-creator of “Only Murders in the Building.” The pilot will be directed by Matt Shakman (“WandaVision,” “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” and the upcoming Fantastic Four), who will also serve as an executive producer.
The series will explore the duo’s rise to fame and their pivotal role in transforming Las Vegas into a family-friendly entertainment hub. But beyond the glitz and spectacle lies a deeper story – of ambition, illusion, love, and the tragic event that abruptly ended their careers. The series promises to delve into the mystery surrounding their final performance and the tiger attack that shocked the world.
Produced by Apple Studios and Imagine Entertainment, the show will also feature an extensive lineup of executive producers including Brian Grazer, Kristen Zolner, Natalie Berkus, Tony Leondis, Kathy Ciric, and Will Malnati, who created the original podcast. Documentary filmmaker Steven Leckart, who wrote and narrated the podcast, will also serve as executive producer.
The podcast “Wild Things: Siegfried & Roy,” which premiered in 2022, offered a compelling, behind-the-scenes look at the iconic performers. It remains available for streaming on Apple Podcasts here.
