TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe Announces Debut Solo LP “Thee Black Boltz,” Out April 18

Tunde Adebimpe, the multifaceted talent and critically acclaimed frontman of TV on the Radio, has officially unveiled his long-awaited debut solo album, Thee Black Boltz, set for release on April 18th via Sub Pop Records. The announcement marks a new chapter for Adebimpe, known for his innovative and genre-defying contributions to music.

Produced by Adebimpe alongside Wilder Zoby, who also serves as executive producer, Thee Black Boltz is a deeply personal and visionary project. The album features additional production and contributions from his fellow TV on the Radio members, Jaleel Bunton and Jahphet Landis, as well as other collaborators, shaping a sound that is uniquely Adebimpe—rich with atmospheric textures and introspective lyricism.

Adebimpe’s songwriting has long been recognized for its exploration of the human experience, and Thee Black Boltz continues this tradition. Through its themes of existential reflection, personal struggle, and the search for meaning, the album provides a raw yet nuanced take on life’s complexities, both large and small. As Adebimpe himself describes, the album dives into “the human condition—under all its stressors, from the minute to the monumental.”

In anticipation of the album’s release, Adebimpe has shared the track “Drop,” which is available now.

Produced by Jahphet Landis, the song opens with a distinctive beatboxing intro, setting the stage for Adebimpe’s emotive delivery. The track’s poignant lyrics—“But will I feel it when I drop? / Restless hours / The ticking of a clock / On my life / And my life’s just a dot / On a time line / And my soul / Is fading tonight”—capture a sense of time slipping away, questioning one’s place in the world amidst the pressure of existence.

Thee Black Boltz is available for pre-order now. Fans can immerse themselves in the vision of one of music’s most dynamic and thoughtful artists by securing their copy today.

Stay tuned for more updates, as Adebimpe’s debut solo album promises to be a compelling sonic journey that marks a bold evolution in his already illustrious career.
