TRAILER: From the Mind of Stephen King – “The Institute” Unleashes Supernatural Horror on MGM+

MGM+ has released the official trailer for its upcoming series “The Institute,” a chilling adaptation of the eponymous Stephen King novel. The series is set to premiere on July 13, 2025.

From executive producers Stephen King and Jack Bender (“From”), “The Institute” stars Mary-Louise Parker (“Weeds”), Ben Barnes (“Black Mirror,” The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian), and Joe Freeman.

The story centers on teen prodigy Luke Ellis (Freeman), who is abducted and wakes up in a mysterious facility known only as the Institute. There, he finds himself among other children who arrived under similar circumstances—each with strange and powerful abilities. Meanwhile, in a nearby small town, ex-police officer Tim Jamieson (Barnes) attempts to escape a troubled past, unaware that his path will soon intersect with Luke’s in a confrontation that will expose the terrifying truth behind the Institute.

The ensemble cast also includes Simone Miller (“Detention Adventure”), Fionn Laird, Hannah Galway (“Sex/Life”), Julian Richings (X-Men: The Last Stand, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief), Robert Joy (“From”), and Martin Roach (“The Umbrella Academy,” The Shape of Water).

“The Institute” is created and executive produced by Stephen King, alongside director and executive producer Jack Bender. Additional executive producers include Benjamin Cavell (“Godfather of Harlem,” “Homeland”), Gary Barber (Footloose, The Vow), Sam Sheridan (“Homestead”), and Ed Redlich (“The Practice,” “Unforgettable”).

The Institute debuts exclusively on MGM+ on July 13, 2025. Until then, viewers can get a glimpse of what’s to come by watching the newly released trailer.
