Universal Pictures and Blumhouse have debuted a bone-rattling new trailer and poster for the eagerly anticipated sequel to the 2022 horror hit The Black Phone.
This new installment promises to repeat the shocks and suspense that made the original film a worldwide sensation, earning over $160 million and widespread critical acclaim.
Returning to direct this chilling chapter is visionary filmmaker Scott Derrickson (Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose), who co-wrote the script with C. Robert Cargill (Sinister). The duo once again brings to life the horrifying world of The Black Phone, based on the characters created by best-selling author Joe Hill.
Ethan Hawke, who made a career-defining mark with his sinister portrayal of ‘The Grabber’ in the first film, is back – but this time, the character’s thirst for vengeance transcends death itself.
Set four years after Finn’s (Mason Thames) harrowing escape from captivity, Black Phone 2 picks up with the now-17-year-old Finn, still haunted by the trauma of his ordeal. But his torment is about to come full circle as The Grabber’s malevolent grip returns – this time, targeting his younger sister, Gwen (Madeleine McGraw).
Gwen begins receiving chilling phone calls in her dreams, pulling her into visions of a deadly winter camp called Alpine Lake, where three boys are stalked by a killer.

Desperate to end the terror, she convinces Finn to join her at the camp during a raging storm. There, they uncover a dark connection between The Grabber’s legacy and their own family history. With The Grabber’s sinister influence growing from beyond the grave, the siblings must confront a killer more powerful – and more personal – than they ever imagined.
Joining the cast is an ensemble that includes Oscar® nominee Demián Bichir (The Nun, A Better Life), Arianna Rivas (A Working Man), Miguel Mora (The Black Phone), and Jeremy Davies (The Infernal Machine, Ravenous), returning as Finn and Gwen’s father, Terrence. Other new additions to the cast include Maev Beaty (Beau is Afraid) and Graham Abbey (“Under the Banner of Heaven”).
Produced by Jason Blum, Scott Derrickson, and C. Robert Cargill, with executive producers Joe Hill, Adam Hendricks, and Ryan Turek, Black Phone 2 looks set to to deliver a sequel that’s just as disturbing and intense as its predecessor when it releases in theaters this October 17.
