Season 2 of “HAS FALLEN” Series in Production: New Location, Same High Stakes

The high-octane “Has Fallen” action thriller series will make its return for a second season, Canal+ CEO Maxime Saada confirmed today. The news came as part of the network’s preliminary 2024 financial results, with Saada sharing that the next chapter in the series is currently being filmed in the UK. This follow-up comes on the heels of “Paris Has Fallen,” the first season, which saw action unfold in the French capital, with some portions of the show also shot in London.

Saada praised the success of the first season, noting that it had been a massive hit across Canal+’s pay-TV network, as well as on streaming platforms such as Prime Video in the UK and Hulu in the United States. “Studiocanal’s first-ever global TV series, Paris Has Fallen, based on the highly successful Has Fallen movie franchise, exceeded expectations and was widely embraced across various regions,” Saada stated. He confirmed that a second season is now in production in the UK, though further details remain under wraps for the time being.

The series is a direct spin-off of the Has Fallen films, with “Paris Has Fallen” following Vincent Taleb, a French protection officer, as he protects a high-profile minister from a terrorist threat. As he partners with MI6 operative Zara, they uncover a deeper conspiracy, leading them to question the loyalty of someone within the security services.

Produced by Studiocanal’s production arm, Urban Myth Films, and supported by Millennium Media and G-BASE, the series mirrors the international scale of the film franchise, which has shifted its setting from Washington, D.C. to London and beyond. As fans anticipate the next season, Studiocanal’s Chief Commercial Officer, Anne Chérel, hinted at the potential for more cities to feature prominently in future episodes. “There are endless possibilities in terms of fascinating cities to explore,” she said in a previous interview, hinting that the series will continue to bring fresh locales to the screen.

With “Paris Has Fallen” proving successful, Canal+ and Studiocanal are clearly aiming to expand the Has Fallen universe with a broader international appeal, combining thrilling action with new and dynamic locations. Fans of the franchise can look forward to the continuation of the story, as well as more of the high-stakes drama that has made the series a fan favorite.
