Sasha Calle has joined the cast of Mike Flanagan’s forthcoming reimagining of The Exorcist, the next instalment in Universal’s long-running horror property. The film is slated for theatrical release on March 12, 2027.
Calle’s casting arrives amid a busy period in her career. The Netflix feature The Rip has remained in the platform’s global top ten for more than a month, while the heist thriller Wardriver is scheduled to open on the 20th of this month.
As with much of the production, details of her role are being kept under wraps, and little has been revealed about the narrative itself.
Flanagan, who is writing and directing, is currently shooting in New York City. The film is said to introduce a new, self-contained story set within The Exorcist universe rather than extend the events of 2023’s The Exorcist: Believer.
The cast also includes Scarlett Johansson, Jacobi Jupe, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.
Producing alongside Flanagan under his Red Room Pictures banner are David Robinson for Morgan Creek Entertainment and Jason Blum for Blumhouse–Atomic Monster. Executive producers include Alexandra Magistro for Red Room Pictures and Ryan Turek for Blumhouse–Atomic Monster.

For those looking to revisit the roots of the franchise, a deluxe edition of William Peter Blatty’s 1971 novel The Exorcist is now available, featuring a glow-in-the-dark cover. Drawing on reported cases of demonic possession from the 1940s, the story follows eleven-year-old Regan MacNeil and her mother, Chris, as they confront the terrifying events surrounding Regan’s possession. A bestseller when it was first published, the novel remains a seminal work in horror literature.
