New Trailer for Monumental, Golden Globe-Nominated ‘THE BRUTALIST’ Drops Ahead of December 30 Release

A24 has just released a brand-new trailer for The Brutalist, an epic American saga helmed by Brady Corbet (The Childhood of a Leader, Vox Lux), which just garnered seven Golden Globe nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor. The film had its world premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival last September 1 where it competed for the Golden Lion and took home the Silver Lion for Corbet.

Co-written by Corbet and Mona Fastvold (who also collaborated on The Childhood of a Leader and Vox Lux), the film stars Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn, Raffey Cassidy, Stacy Martin, Emma Laird, with Isaach De Bankolé, and Alessandro Nivola. The Brutalist tells the story of László Toth (Brody), a visionary architect who escapes post-war Europe and arrives in America hoping to rebuild his life, career, and marriage to his wife, Erzsébet (Jones). Separated during the war by changing borders and regimes, László and Erzsébet are reunited in a strange new country. Settling in Pennsylvania, László’s talent is recognized by wealthy industrialist Harrison Lee Van Buren (Pearce), but success and legacy come at a steep price.

The Brutalist will open in select theaters on December 30, 2024, including special 70mm presentations. The film was shot using the VistaVision process, which involves filming horizontally on 35mm stock before scanning it for 70mm prints. Director Corbet chose this technique because he felt it was the most authentic way to capture the 1950s, using solutions used in that era. In keeping with this idea of capturing the period, the film is also presented in two acts with a 15-minute intermission.
