Modern Grindhouse Mystery Chiller ‘STRANGE DARLING’ Scores Pigeon Shrine FrightFest European Premiere

JT Mollner‘s (Flowers in December, Outlaws and Angels) unconventional cat & mouse chiller Strange Darling will have its European premiere at London’s Pigeon Shrine FrightFest on August 24, before releasing in UK theaters on September 20th through Icon Film Distribution.

Written and directed by Mollner, the film stars Willa Fitzgerald (“Reacher”, “The Fall of the House of Usher”, Alarum), Kyle Gallner (Smile, Scream (2022)), Ed Begley Jr. (“Better Call Saul”, “Young Sheldon”) and Barbara Hershey (Falling Down, Insidious, The Manor).

The producers of the recent sleeper horror hit Late Night with the Devil and Barbarian present Strange Darling, a clever and relentless thrill ride that defies audience expectations at every turn as it chronicles a twisted one-night stand that spirals into a vicious murder spree by a serial killer.

The film received its world premiere on 22 September at last year’s Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, receiving rave reviews dubbing it, “The cleverest thriller of its kind” (Variety), and “Sublimely brilliant!” (Mike Flanagan).

Icon Film Distribution’s Spencer Pollard says of the upcoming release: “We are thrilled (literally) to be releasing Strange Darling in the UK later this Autumn. It is such a clever film that twists and turns itself inside out and leaves the viewer surprised, enthralled and on the edge of their seat all the way through this glorious piece of cinematic beauty.”

A Miramax and Spooky Pictures production, Strange Darling is distributed in the UK and Ireland by Icon Film Distribution. The film is produced by Bill Block, Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, Giovanni Ribisi, and Chris Ivan Cevic, with Ribisi also serving as Director of Photography, using 35mm film for the entire picture.

The film will receive its European Premiere at London’s Pigeon Shrine FrightFest at 20:00 on the Main Screen on August 24, before releasing theatrically in the UK from September 20.

Until then, we’ll leave you with the UK trailer, but before you watch it. A few words from one of the film’s stars, Kyle Gallner: “Strange Darling trailer is here and I kid you not, this movie is straight fire. The trailer is incredible, but … truly consider going in stone cold and knowing nothing… but if you must watch… enjoy!”
