Knock, Knock: Were Dollface, Pin-Up Girl and Scarecrow on your doorstep last night?

In anticipation of the latest installment in The Strangers horror franchise, Lionsgate has stirred up excitement by releasing some unsettling viral marketing. With Renny Harlin (A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, Die Hard 2) helming The Strangers – Chapter 1, the first entry in an all-new “Strangers trilogy” hitting theaters on May 17, 2024, the studio has shared chilling security footage of three masked assailants lurking outside a suburban home.

The grainy black-and-white footage shows the frighteningly familiar sadistic trio stalking through the shadows, provoking unease and paranoia about where this footage originated. Though the studio provides no context about the location, the disturbing clip will likely have audiences checking their own security systems just to be safe.

Besides the security footage, we have also been gifted some brand-new character posters of the terrifying trio.

When their car breaks down in a creepy small town, a young couple played by Madelaine Petsch (“Riverdale,” Polaroid) and Froy Gutierrez (“Teen Wolf,” “Cruel Summer”) find themselves trapped overnight in an isolated cabin where they are ruthlessly attacked without provocation by three masked strangers, in this horror film directed by Harlin from a script by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland, based on an original story by Bryan Bertino.

The film also co-stars Gabriel Basso (“The Night Agent”) and Ema Horvath (“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” Who Are You People) and is produced by Courtney Solomon, Mark Canton, Christopher Milburn, Gary Raskin, Alastair Burlingham, and Charlie Dombek.

The Strangers – Chapter 1 will release in theaters nationwide May 17, 2024.
