INTERVIEW: Jesse V. Johnson on the Poignant and Pragmatic WWII Action Thriller ‘HELL HATH NO FURY’

British filmmaker and stunt coordinator, Jesse V. Johnson’s (Avengement, Triple Threat) latest venture, the gritty, wildly-unpredictable WWII action drama, Hell Hath No Fury which he managed to bring to fruition in the midst of the Covid pandemic, has just released on DVD and digital in the UK.

Directed by Johnson, from an original script by Romain Serir and a screenplay written by Katharine Lee McEwan, Hell Hath No Fury stars Nina Bergman (who Johnson pre-empted the recent Wonder Woman films with in the form of a fan trailer that went viral), Daniel Bernhardt (Matrix Reloaded, John Wick, Skylin3s), Timothy V Murphy (National Treasure: Book of Secrets, “Sons of Anarchy”), Louis Mandylor (The Debt Collector, The Mercenary) and Dominique Vandenberg (Triple Threat, The Mercenary).

This powerful and eye-opening dissection of the destructive power of both love and greed centers around French national Marie DuJardin who has been branded a traitor by her countrymen but is rescued by American soldiers on one condition: In order to survive, she must lead them to a cache of gold which is being tracked down by the Nazis, the French resistance, and the Americans alike.

To celebrate the film being available on DVD and Digital now, CinemaChords’ Howard Gorman sat down with Johnson who revealed how the project was born out of a desire to keep flexing his creative muscles during lockdown before he went on to discuss another film called White Elephant which releases on June 3, in which he had the pleasure of working with Bruce Willis before the actor sadly announced he would be retiring from the business due to aphasia.
