INTERVIEW: Chasing Demons and Strumming Country Tunes – Maxwell Jenkins Talks “The Bondsman”

This week, Prime Video is set to release a devilishly entertaining new supernatural action series, The Bondsman.” Starring Kevin Bacon as Hub Halloran, a bounty hunter brought back from the dead by none other than the Devil himself, the series blends horror, action, comedy, and a surprising amount of country music. Bacon’s character, Hub, is tasked with capturing demons who have escaped Hell, but his resurrection leads to more than just demon-hunting adventures. As the series unfolds, Hub’s journey reveals the sins that condemned him to Hell in the first place, sending him on a quest for redemption that’s about more than just his afterlife.

Created by Grainger David, “The Bondsman” brings together a star-studded cast, including Beth Grant, Jolene Purdy, Jennifer Nettles, Damon Herriman, and Maxwell Jenkins, who joins the crew for this wild ride. The series’ mix of horror hijinks, pointed poignancy, brutal action, and dark comedy promises to make it a standout in the crowded supernatural genre.

The show’s mix of demons and country music might seem a curious pairing, but it’s one that fits perfectly within the wild world of “The Bondsman.” While Hub is trying to fix his past mistakes and fight for his afterlife, he also discovers an unexpected connection to country music that adds an intriguing layer to his character.

In an exclusive interview with CinemaChords, we had the chance to catch up with Maxwell Jenkins, who plays a key role in the series. Jenkins, known for his roles in Arcadian and “Lost in Space,” shared his thoughts on the transition from battling aliens alongside Nicolas Cage to taking on demons with Kevin Bacon. He also discussed his personal connection to country music and how it plays a pivotal role in the show.
