Netflix has today announced the cast for its upcoming limited thriller series “Harlan Coben’s The Woods”, with production now underway.
The series, adapted from the novel by bestselling author Coben – who executive produces via Final Twist Productions – will star Tom Bateman (The Love Hypothesis, Hedda), Michelle Keegan (“Fool Me Once”, “Brassic”), Mandeep Dhillon (“MobLand”, “After Life”), James Buckley (“The Inbetweeners”, “White Gold”), and Pearce Quigley (Small Prophets, “The Gentlemen”).
The eight-part, 60-minute series follows Paul “Cope” Copeland, a barrister whose life is upended when a body is found to be linked to the disappearance of his sister Camille 20 years previously. Convinced she might still be alive, Cope reunites with his first love Lucy Silverfield, uncovering buried secrets, lies and cover-ups tied to the original case.
The ensemble cast also includes Tom Allen, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Rade Šerbedžija, Shannon Watson, Pamela Nomvete and Roger Barclay.
The series is written by Danny Brocklehurst, alongside Charlotte Coben, Tom Farrelly and Joe Forrest.
Executive producer Coben said: “The Woods is a haunting and very personal story. It has everything you expect from us — twisty, turning, gasp-inducing — but at the core is a story of old love and yearning. Working with a cast led by Tom Bateman, Michelle Keegan, Mandeep Dhillon, Pearce Quigley, James Buckley, Tom Allen – it’s an embarrassment of riches.”
Brocklehurst added: “It’s a great pleasure to be working with Netflix on another twisty emotional thriller. And what a cast we have gathered. Reuniting with Michelle Keegan is a dream and to be working with huge talent like Tom Bateman, Pearce Quigley, Kerry Howard and James Buckley is a joy. We are very fortunate.”
Quay Street Productions’ Nicola Shindler and Richard Fee said: “We’re incredibly excited to have begun production on the adaptation of this thrilling Harlan Coben book, brought to life by the ever-brilliant Danny Brocklehurst and an extraordinary group of talented actors.”
The series marks the 14th Coben adaptation for Netflix, continuing a long-running partnership across multiple territories and languages. Previous titles include “Fool Me Once”, “The Stranger”, “Stay Close”, “Missing You” and “Run Away”.
