‘CAUGHT STEALING’ Trailer Drops: First Look at Aronofsky Thriller Starring Austin Butler and Matt Smith

The first trailer for Academy Award® nominee Darren Aronofsky‘s latest film, Caught Stealing, debuted today, offering a glimpse into a world of unexpected danger and a stellar ensemble cast. This crime thriller adapted from Charlie Huston’s book of the same name, is set to arrive exclusively in movie theaters on August 29, 2025.

The film follows Hank Thompson (Austin Butler), a former high-school baseball phenom whose life takes an unexpected turn. While tending bar at a New York dive and enjoying his favorite team’s run at the pennant, a simple request from his punk-rock neighbor Russ (Matt Smith) to look after his cat plunges Hank into the middle of a dangerous confrontation with threatening gangsters. As they all pursue him for unknown reasons, Hank must use his wits and hustle to survive and uncover the truth behind the sudden threat.

Caught Stealing is directed by Darren Aronofsky from a screenplay by Charlie Huston, based on Huston’s book of the same name.

The film boasts a powerful ensemble cast featuring Regina King, Zoë Kravitz, Matt Smith, Liev Schreiber, Vincent D’Onofrio, Griffin Dunne, Benito A Martínez Ocasio, and Carol Kane alongside Butler.

Caught Stealing is produced by Jeremy Dawson, Dylan Golden, Ari Handel, and Darren Aronofsky. Charlie Huston and Ann Ruark serve as executive producers.
