Blumhouse, the powerhouse behind some of horror’s most spine-chilling hits, has just unleashed a haunting new trailer for Jaume Collet-Serra’s (Orphan, The Shallows) The Woman in the Yard which features a mysterious and unsettling presence that disrupts a family’s fragile peace in the most terrifying way.
At the core of this chilling story is Ramona, a role brought to life by BAFTA and SAG nominee Danielle Deadwyler (I Saw the TV Glow, Parallel). Shattered by grief after a devastating car accident that took her husband’s life (Russell Hornsby – “BMF”, Fences), Ramona is left to pick up the pieces and care for their two children—14-year-old Malik (Peyton Jackson – Respect, American Refugee) and 6-year-old Nia (Estella Kahiha – Will Trent, BMF). In the wake of her loss, she faces the heartbreaking challenge of holding her fractured family together, all while an unseen terror looms.
But everything shifts when a mysterious woman (Okwui Okpokwasili – The Exorcist: Believer, Julie Taymor’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream)suddenly appears in their yard. At first, Ramona believes she’s just a lost soul or someone suffering from mental instability, but as the woman draws nearer, it becomes chillingly clear that she is no ordinary stranger. Her ominous presence is undeniable, and her intentions are anything but innocent.
Collet-Serra, who previously collaborated with Deadwyler on the Netflix action thriller Carry On, brings his signature blend of suspense and tension to this chilling tale. The screenplay is penned by debut feature writer Sam Stefanak.
Produced by Jason Blum, the visionary behind hits like The Invisible Man and The Black Phone, alongside Emmy-nominated producer Stephanie Allain (The Exorcist: Believer, Hustle & Flow), The Woman in the Yard promises to be yet another unforgettable chapter in Blumhouse’s reign over modern horror. Executive producers include Danielle Deadwyler, Jaume Collet-Serra, James Moran, and Gabrielle Ebron.
Where did she come from? What does she want? And perhaps most unsettling of all—when will she leave? These questions will haunt you until The Woman in the Yard drags you into an unrelenting descent into fear when it hits theaters on March 28, 2025.
