A succulent new chapter in the Dracula saga is set to unfold as RLJE Films and Shudder, AMC Networks’ premier horror platform, have secured the worldwide rights to Abraham’s Boys. This spine-chilling thriller, written and directed by Natasha Kermani (Lucky, Imitation Girl) – explores the dark and turbulent world of the Van Helsing legacy.
Based on the eponymous short story by acclaimed author Joe Hill, Abraham’s Boys continues the dark legacy of Bram Stoker’s iconic Dracula—but this time, the fangs are out for Van Helsing’s descendants.
The film will have its world premiere at the 2025 Overlook Film Festival on Saturday, April 5, before hitting theaters nationwide later this year.
Abraham’s Boys follows Max and Rudy Van Helsing, played by Judah Mackey (“The Young and the Restless,” “Perry Mason”) and Brady Hepner (Black Phone, Growing Up Gorman), who have grown up under the oppressive and often puzzling control of their father, Abraham (Titus Welliver, “Bosch,” “Sons of Anarchy”). Unaware of their father’s shadowy past, the brothers begin to uncover the violent truths behind his history with Dracula. As their father’s growing paranoia spirals out of control, the brothers are forced to confront a terrifying legacy they were never meant to inherit. Jocelin Donahue (The House of the Devil, The Last Stop in Yuma County) and Aurora Perrineau (“Kaos,” “Westworld”) also star.
“It was a joy to bring Joe Hill’s dark, gothic story to the screen,” said Kermani. “I’m thrilled to share this film with audiences worldwide, alongside RLJE Films and Shudder.”
Mark Ward, Chief Acquisitions Officer of RLJE Films, added, “We’re excited to introduce Abraham’s Boys to audiences and expand the Dracula legacy with a fresh, compelling perspective. Natasha Kermani has crafted a gripping, character-driven horror story that brings Van Helsing’s past into the light with dramatic consequences for his sons.”
Produced by Tim Wu and James Howard Herron of Illium Pictures, alongside James Harris and Leonara Darby of Tea Shop Productions, Abraham’s Boys also boasts executive producers Titus Welliver, Joe Hill, and Mark Lane. The acquisition deal was negotiated by Mark Ward and Samuel Zimmerman for RLJE Films and Shudder, and James Harris for Tea Shop Productions, representing the filmmakers.
