American Hustle is a crime comedy drama based on the FBI Abscam caper that toook place during the late ’70s, early ’80s and follows the ultimate con-man Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale) along with equally cunning partner in crime Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams) who are forced to work for risky FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper). Political operator Carmine Polito played by Jeremy Renner is stuck in the middle between the con-artists and the law.
Being drawn into the world of devious mafia gangs and power hungry men, Ivrings unpredictable wife (Jennifer Lawrence) Rosalyn looks as if she might get in the way of this one. This is set to dazzle with money, drugs and quirkiness, let’s see how director David O. Russell translates this controversial operation on screen. With a tremendous score from Danny Elfman, American Hustle comes to theatre on the 1st of January (20th December in London). Perfect film to unwind to after the busyness of New Years Eve.
In celebration of the release all five protagonists took time out to share their hustle experiences with us. First up we have Jennifer Lawrence.
After the success of Silver Linings Playbook, director David O. Russell has played it safe and used not only Bradley Cooper but the lovely Jennifer Lawrence again. Lawrence here plays Irving’s courageous wife, Rosalyn, a strong headed woman who doesn’t hold back when it comes to confronting Prosser in the ladies about sleeping with her husband. Not something you want to have on your plate when you are a convict working undercover for the FBI, but girls will be girls. Her spontaneity and unpredictable tendencies could preempt the downfall of this operation. Dolled-up in a stunning wardrobe, Jennifer Lawrence has grown up a bit from the Katniss Evedeen and looks like a confident woman.
