Meet Colman Domingo’s Bobby T – the showman running the world’s deadliest game show: ‘The Running Man’

Paramount Pictures is unleashing the world’s deadliest game show this Friday, November 14th, with The Running ManEdgar Wright’s high-octane take on Stephen King’s story, first published under the Richard Bachman pseudonym in 1982 and later collected in The Bachman Books (1985).

Every ratings juggernaut lives or dies by its host — the ringmaster who turns competition into spectacle and keeps audiences under their spell. In The Running Man, that role belongs to Bobby T, a bombastic presenter played by Colman Domingo, whose performance mirrors the film’s own mix of killer energy and savage showmanship. Ahead of the film’s release, a new clip showcases this showman’s showman fronting the world’s most lethal spectacle.

Speaking recently to Empire, Domingo said: “I don’t think we have to look too far away from being in a dystopian society … That’s why there’s such a great need for a film like this … It’s going to be entertaining, but it makes you think about the kind of world we want to live in, and where we need to possibly press ‘pause’, to save our souls.”

The film takes place in a near-future society where “The Running Man” is the top-rated show on television – a deadly competition in which contestants, known as Runners, must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins. Every move is broadcast to a bloodthirsty public, with each day bringing a greater cash reward. Desperate to save his sick daughter, working-class Ben Richards (Glen Powell) is persuaded by the show’s charming but ruthless producer, Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), to enter the game as a last resort. But Ben’s defiance and grit turn him into an unexpected fan favourite – and a threat to the system itself. As ratings soar, so does the danger, and Ben must outwit not only the Hunters but a nation addicted to watching him fall.

With The Running Man out this Friday, 14 November, we’ll leave you with a front-row view of Domingo’s bombastic presence as Bobby T — a host whose job it is to make the world’s deadliest stage the most captivating show on Earth.

Catch The Running Man in cinemas on November 14, 2025.
