‘Roofman’ Featurette Teases Channing Tatum’s Offbeat Turn in Derek Cianfrance’s Surreal Crime Drama

Paramount Pictures has dropped a new featurette in anticipation of the release of Roofman, the latest film from acclaimed director Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine, The Place Beyond the Pines). The film, starring Channing Tatum as Jeffrey Manchester, tells the bizarre true story of an ex-Army Ranger who robbed a series of McDonald’s by cutting through their roofs—earning him the nickname “Roofman.” In this strange and surreal crime saga, Manchester’s criminal life takes an even more unexpected turn when he hides out for months inside a suburban Toys “R” Us while plotting his next heist.

The film looks set to be equal parts heist thriller, offbeat character drama, and romantic complication, as Manchester’s secret life becomes entangled with Leigh (Kirsten Dunst), a single mother drawn into the emotional fallout. What begins as an unusual survival story seems to veer into something more emotionally charged—and potentially tragic—as his double life begins to unravel.

The supporting cast is notably stacked, featuring Ben MendelsohnLaKeith StanfieldJuno TempleMelonie DiazUzo AdubaJimmy O. YangLily Collias, and Peter Dinklage. The film’s script is co-written by Cianfrance and Kirt Gunn.

The film is executive produced by Cianfrance and Tatum as well as Jonathan Montepare, Charles M. Barsamian, Chris Parker, Tyler Zacharia, Matthew von Waaden, D. Mark von Waaden, Jack Selby, Rick Covert, and Sam Romano, with production handled by Jamie Patricof, Lynette Howell Taylor, Alex Orlovsky, Duncan Montgomery, and Dylan Sellers.

Roofman will receive its theatrical debut this October 10, 2025.
