‘Killing Faith’ Trailer Promises A Haunting Exploration of Belief and Fear in the American West

Shout! Studios has debuted the official trailer for Killing Faith, the latest film from filmmaker Ned Crowley, who previously impressed audiences with his darkly comic 2016 film Middle Man. This new feature, set against the harsh, plague-ravaged landscape of 1849 Arizona, promises a chilling exploration of belief, fear, and the lengths one will go to protect an innocent child from the terrifying grip of superstition.

In Killing Faith, the American West is not only defined by its unforgiving desert and scattered settlements but also by an all-consuming sickness that threatens to wipe out the population. As the plague sweeps through the Arizona territory, rumors begin to swirl around a young girl, believed to be cursed by the devil. As fear and paranoia grow, one man must grapple with an impossible choice — run from the growing hysteria, or stand and protect a child condemned by the world.

At the heart of the film is Dr. Bender, a faithless physician played by Guy Pearce. Dr. Bender is tasked with escorting an anguished mother, played by DeWanda Wise, across the treacherous desert in a desperate bid to protect her daughter.

Crowley himself describes the cast as “a dream come true,” and it’s easy to see why. In addition to Pearce and Wise, the film features a stellar ensemble, including Jamie Neumann (“The Deuce”), Jack Alcott (“Dexter: Resurrection”), Emily Ford (“Outer Range”), and Bill Pullman (Independence Day, The Sinner).

Crowley also notes, “These are actors who aren’t afraid to dive into the depths of morally complex characters,” and that willingness to explore the shades of gray in each role is sure to give Killing Faith its unsettling emotional resonance.

For fans of slow-burn Westerns with a supernatural edge, Killing Faith promises to be a haunting journey into a land ravaged by disease, superstition, and the relentless specter of death. With its eerie atmosphere and morally complex characters, the film looks poised to become one of the most compelling films of the fall when it releases on October 3, 2025.
