Rosellas to Release First EP Under This Feeling Records, ‘SOMEWHERE INBETWEEN’

Rosellas have been on a blazing roll with recent tracks ‘Hideaway’ and ‘Switch Off’ earning the band plaudits from John Kennedy on Radio X and an XS Record of the Week, with the singles being compared to established greats such as Inhaler, DMA’s and The View. And their live performances have been just as strong with the band selling out most of their UK headline tour in March, opening for Starsailor at major venues and providing pre-game entertainment at Manchester City.

But this preamble is just the first step in Rosellas’ master plan for taking 2023 by storm. This May 11th will see the band release ‘Somewhere Inbetween’, their first EP under their recently inked deal with This Feeling Records, which will feature their brand new single ‘Come Alive’. Fans will also be able to catch then at this year’s The Great Escape festival on 13th May, where they’ll be taking to the stage at 11pm as part of the This Feeling show at The Hope and Ruin. And if you can’t make that date, don’t fret as more live news is expected to follow shortly.

The new single ‘Come Alive’ is said to find Rosellas at their “soaring, epic best, striking a balance between edgy attitude and exemplary musicianship.” Whilst drawing on influences from the North West indie/alternative scene’s all-time greats, the track is a testament to how the region’s most recent crop of rock ‘n’ roll bands are all set to write an exciting new era.

Commenting on the new track, the band said, “‘Come Alive’ is our quintessential sound. Its huge soaring chorus melody and blinding guitar solo are enriched with a Mani-esque bass groove locking in with tight, heavy hitting drums. Giving a nod to the bands of the ’90s northwest who have influenced this side of our sound, we treated the vocals with an early Verve-like atmosphere to match the expanse of the lyrical theme which meanders around the realisation of ambition and dreams through a perpetuated narrative with your own self.”

Besides ‘Come Alive’, and the previous two releases, ‘Hideaway’ and ‘Switch Off’, the ‘Somewhere Inbetween’ EP is rounded out with another two new songs. ‘Bare Your Soul’ is the EP’s slow-burning centrepiece, constantly growing in stature until it erupts into a psych-tinged wall-of-sound. Led by Drew Selby’s restrained, emotive delivery, the concluding ‘Thunderstorming’ is a more sombre, reflective affair yet arguably the EP’s finest demonstration of Rosellas’ command of fiery dynamic contrasts with a touch of Pink Floyd’s expansive instrumental style. The band wrote all five songs on the EP, which was produced by Oliver Shillito.

Rosellas will return to London on May 18th to play John Kennedy’s The Remedy, where they perform alongside labelmates The Native at Signature Brew. Rosellas’ previous shows have included gigs with Planet, The K’s, Andrew Cushin, Black Grape and Starsailor, plus festivals such as Isle of Wight, Truck, Y Not?, Neighbourhood Festival, Liverpool Sound City, Rewired and Stockton Calling.

Their upcoming shows play out as follows:

18th – London, Signature Brew – John Kennedy’s The Remedy (with The Native)
