Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City – Kaya Scodelario & Robbie Amell’s Talk Exploring the Game’s Horror Roots

Channeling the horror elements of Capcom’s first two Resident Evil video games, Johannes Roberts‘ (47 Meters Down) Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City will bring the landmark franchise to life for a whole new generation of fans this week.

Written and Directed by Roberts, and starring Kaya Scodelario (Crawl, Maze Runner), Hannah John-Kamen (Unwelcome, Ant-Man and the Wasp), Robbie Amell (The Babysitter, Code 8), Tom Hopper (“Game of Thrones”, Terminator: Dark Fate), Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap), Donal Logue (Blade, Zodiac), and Neal McDonough (Minority Report, American Horror Story), the film will take us back to 1998 when Raccoon City, once the booming home of pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation, has become a dying Midwestern town. The company’s exodus left the city a wasteland… with great evil brewing below the surface. When that evil is unleashed, a group of survivors must work together to uncover the truth behind Umbrella and make it through the night.

As the Resident Evil franchise prepares to deep dive into what happened in Raccoon City back in 1998, the stars Robbie Amell and Kaya Scodelario revealed feeling the pressure of playing the Redfield siblings and just how adamant Roberts was about not only paying perfect homage to the original games but also breathing some new life into the zombie sub-genre.
