Hard on the heels of releasing two long players in as many years, the ever-prolific Liverpudlian sextet Red Rum Club is back with brand new single ‘Vanilla.’ Reminiscent of heyday Arctic Monkeys, this catchy-as-hell, bass-heavy belter is on a fast track to becoming a live favourite… And the shenanigans the band gets up to in the accompanying music video begs the question, “when will they be releasing official bobblehead merch?”
And, being the workhorses that they are, Fran Doran (vocals), Tom Williams (lead guitar), Michael McDermott (rhythm guitar), Simon Hepworth (bass), Neil Lawson (drums) and Joe Corby (trumpet) are slap-bang in the midst of their first headline tour of North America and Canada just a matter of months since playing a string of U.S. shows with fellow indie-rock sensations The Lathums.
To celebrate the band’s rapid-fire return, CinemaChords’ Howard Gorman caught up with lead guitarist Williams in Nashville, where he gave us an update on how the overseas tour is fairing, what surprises fans can expect when the band embarks on an eagerly awaited tour of the UK and Ireland next month, and the direction their new material is heading, plus a tasty teaser of another single scheduled to drop in a matter of a month.
