Welcome to the Chaotic World of Pandora in First Trailer for Eli Roth’s Sci-Fi Space Western Adaptation, ‘BORDERLANDS’

“There’s nowhere to hide now, suckers!” because Lionsgate has just debuted the first official full trailer for Eli Roth‘s (Cabin Fever, Hostel, Thanksgiving) sci-fi space western comedy Borderlands, based on the eponymous best-selling loot-shooter videogame franchise developed by Gearbox Software.

Directed by Roth from a screenplay he co-wrote with Joe Crombie, and starring Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Edgar Ramírez, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Gina Gershon and Jamie Lee Curtis, Borderlands follows Lilith (Blanchett), a notorious bounty hunter with a storied past, who reluctantly ventures back to her, Pandora, the most chaotic planet in the galaxy. Tasked with finding the missing daughter of Atlas (Ramírez), the most powerful S.O.B. in the universe, Lilith forms an unlikely alliance with a motley crew of misfits – Roland (Hart), a seasoned mercenary on a mission; Tiny Tina (Greenblatt), a feral pre-teen demolition expert; Krieg (Munteanu), Tina’s buffed up bodyguard; Tannis (Curtis), the oddball scientist who’s seen it all; and Claptrap (Black), a wise-cracking robot. Together, these misfit heroes must battle an alien species and menacing bandits to uncover one of Pandora’s most explosive secrets.

Additionally, Penn Jillette has a cameo in the film as a preacher overseeing a wedding, after voicing Pain in the video game Borderlands 3.

Borderlands is produced by Ari Arad, p.g.a., Avi Arad and Erik Feig and Executive produced by Tim Miller, Ethan Smith, Louise Rosner, Emmy Yu, Lucy Kitada, Christopher Woodrow, K. Blaine Johnston, Randy Pitchford, and Strauss Zelnick.

The film will release in exclusively in theaters this August 9 but for now, sit back and enjoy the first trailer which is guaranteed to frazzle your lobe…
