The Surfer UK Trailer Drops: Nicolas Cage Rides a Mind-bending Fevered Wave of Fury – Coming May 9th

Get ready to hang ten on the edge of your seats as Vertigo Releasing has just dropped the UK trailer and poster for Lorcan Finnegan’s mind-bending fevered dramedy, The Surfer ahead if the film’s release in UK and Irish cinemas this coming May 9th.

From the visionary mind of Lorcan Finnegan (Vivarium, Nocebo), The Surfer promises a tidal wave of tension and psychological unease, plunging us into the seemingly chill world of an unnamed man (Nicolas CageMandy, Face/Off, Dream Scenario), who returns to the sun-drenched, idyllic beach of his childhood hoping to shred some waves with his son.

However, paradise quickly turns into a perilous pipeline of paranoia when our protagonist faces a brutal humiliation at the hands of a powerful crew of local surfers. What begins as a territorial squabble soon escalates into a scorching conflict, fueled by the relentless summer heat, pushing Cage’s character to the absolute brink – something every Cage fan has come to be accustomed to and appreciate. Will he find inner peace on the water, or will the relentless pressure send him into a full Face/Off with his tormentors?

The Surfer has been described as an entertaining, stylistic and psychologically unsettling piece of pulp cinema, having already made huge waves at its premiere as part of the prestigious Midnight Screenings section of the 77th Cannes Film Festival.

Joining Cage in this intense surfside showdown is a stellar ensemble cast including Julian McMahon (Fantastic Four, Bait, “Nip/Tuck”), Nicholas Cassim (“The Twelve,” “Home and Away”), Miranda Tapsell (“The Artful Dodger”), and Alexander Bertrand (“Les Norton”).

So, to wax up your expectations, we’ll leave you with the trailer for this fabulously bonkers movie before it barrels into cinemas this coming May 9th, 2025.
