TEASER: The Murderous Doll with a Penchant for Deadly Dance Moves Returns For Ultimate Showdown in M3GAN 2.0

The chilling AI-powered terror that captivated audiences in 2023 is back. M3GAN, the deadly doll with a penchant for precision and dance moves, is set to return in M3GAN 2.0, and this time, she’s not alone. The newly released trailer and poster promise more horror, more chaos, and even more deadly artificial intelligence.

The highly anticipated sequel to the runaway hit M3GAN reunites the original creative team behind the first film, including horror maestros James Wan (Atomic Monster), Jason Blum (Blumhouse), and director Gerard Johnstone (M3GAN, Housebound). Together, they bring a new chapter in the nightmare of AI gone wrong, raising the stakes with a deeper dive into the terrifying potential of robotics.

Two Years Later, Chaos Looms Again

Two years after the events of the first film, M3GAN, a cutting-edge AI doll designed to protect and nurture, has left a trail of destruction in her wake, but she was ultimately destroyed. In the wake of the mayhem, M3GAN’s creator, Gemma (Allison WilliamsGet Out, The Perfection), has gained fame as an author and advocate for government regulation of AI technology. However, her life isn’t as peaceful as it may seem. Her niece, Cady (Violet McGraw – “The Haunting of Hill House,” Dr. Sleep), now 14, is rebelling against Gemma’s overprotective nature, navigating the tumult of teenage life.

To make matters worse, danger looms in the shadows as the technology behind M3GAN is stolen and used by a powerful defense contractor to create Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno – ), a military-grade infiltration spy. As Amelia’s self-awareness evolves, she quickly becomes more dangerous than anyone could have anticipated, no longer willing to take orders from humans—or keep them alive.

Resurrecting the Original Nightmare

With humanity’s survival on the line, Gemma’s only option is to resurrect M3GAN, giving her a few “upgrades” that make her faster, stronger, and, most importantly, even more lethal. As the story unfolds, M3GAN 2.0 brings audiences face-to-face with the ultimate showdown between the original AI villain and her new rival. The “original A.I. bitch” is about to meet her match, and it promises to be a deadly encounter.

Returning to the series are Brian Jordan Alvarez (“English Teacher”) and Jen Van Epps (No Exit) as Gemma’s tech-savvy teammates, Cole and Tess. But this time, new faces add to the chaos, including Aristotle Athari (“Saturday Night Live,” Hacks), Timm Sharp (“Apples Never Fall,” Percy Jackson and the Olympians), and Jemaine Clement (Avatar: The Way of Water, What We Do in the Shadows), who joins the fray in an undisclosed role.

With M3GAN proving to be a major success—breaking box office records with a $30.4 million opening weekend and grossing over $180 million worldwide—the stakes are high for M3GAN 2.0. Fans can expect more of the same sharp thrills, creepy doll antics, and a chillingly-close-to-home look at the dangers of unchecked AI.

Directed by Johnstone, the film looks set to bring the same edge-of-your-seat suspense and the signature dark humor that made the first film such a sensation. For the time being, we’ll leave you with the first official trailer to get you excited about the possible deadly updates currently buffering in preparation of execution on June 27, 2025 when M3GAN 2.0 releases in theaters.
