Warner Bros. and DC Studios have released the Super Bowl trailer for Supergirl, the latest installment in the Man of Steel’s extended universe. The film is scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 26, 2026.
Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) plays Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin, in this adaptation of Tom King’s 2022 comic series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Ana Nogueira adapted the comic for the screen, based on Bilquis Evely’s illustrations. Craig Gillespie directs the film, overseeing the project from its comic-book origins to the big screen.
This iteration follows the 1984 Supergirl film, directed by Jeannot Szwarc and starring Helen Slater. That earlier version, with a budget of roughly $35 million, earned approximately $14.3 million at the box office, marking it as a modest performer in DC’s live-action history while establishing Kara Zor-El as a cinematic character.
The 2026 adaptation situates Kara within a broader universe, drawing from the comic’s narrative while presenting the character in a new cinematic context. Alongside Alcock, the film’s cast includes key supporting performers (full cast details in press materials), bringing together the creative team behind a major summer release in DC’s ongoing slate of films.
