Sandra Hüller to Star Alongside Ryan Gosling in Interstellar Andy Weir Adaptation ‘PROJECT HAIL MARY’

Sandra Hüller, recently nominated for an Oscar for her performance in Anatomy of a Fall, is set to co-star with fellow 2024 Oscar-nominee Ryan Gosling in Amazon MGM Studios’ adaptation of Andy Weir’s (The Martian) best-selling interstellar adventure novel Project Hail Mary.

In this gripping tale of discovery, speculation, and survival, directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (21 Jump Street, The LEGO Movie) from a script by Drew Goddard (The Martian, Cloverfield), middle school science teacher Ryland Grace (Gosling) wakes up on a spaceship with no memory as to who he is or how he ended up there. Alone and hurtling through space, he must figure out his interstellar mission to save Earth from a looming astronomical catastrophe – until he encounters a mysterious alien who has traversed light years to rescue their own species from the same peril.

Amy Pascal will produce under Pascal Pictures along with Rachel O’Connor and Gosling is also producing under his General Admission company; Lord, Miller and Aditya Sood will produce under the Lord Miller banner and Weir will also be a serving producer. Executive producers include Lucy Kitada and Nikki Baida via Lord Miller, Goddard, Sarah Esberg, Ken Kao, and Patty Whitcher.

Project Hail Mary will be filmed for IMAX and is slated for a March 20, 2026 wide theatrical release, giving you plenty of time to read the extremely chunky novel before then which we can’t recommend enough.
