RLJE Films Acquires Loyalty-Testing Shocker ‘The Friendship Game’ Starring Peyton List

RLJE Films has confirmed their acquisition of the U.S. rights to Canadian filmmaker Scooter Corkle‘s (Hollow in the Land) disquieting thrill ride, The Friendship Game which puts its protagonists’ loyalties to the ultimate test.

Helmed by Corkle, from a script written by Damien Ober (“The OA”), and starring Peyton List (“Cobra-Kai”, “Bunk’d”), Brendan Meyer (Color Out of Space), Kelcey Mawema (“To All the Boys…” franchise), Kaitlyn Santa Juana (“The Flash”) and Dylan Schombing (Warcraft), The Friendship Game revolves around a group of teenagers who stumble upon a mysterious object that begins to challenge their loyalty to each other, resulting in progressively more destructive consequences the deeper they delve into the mechanics of the game.

Commenting on the pick-up, RLJE Films’ Chief Acquisitions Officer Mark Ward said the film “features an incredibly talented young cast lead by rising star Peyton List … We cannot wait for audiences to join this fun, exciting, entertaining thrill-ride of a movie.”

“We’re very energized to be partnered with RLJE Films on the release of The Friendship Game – this is the kind of film they always rock with,” added Producer Daniel Bekerman.  “Scooter is a filmmaker to watch and combined with Damien’s mind-bending and terrifying script, they took this movie past our wildest expectations. Peyton delivers a raw and gritty performance in a role unlike anything we have seen from her before. Can’t wait to get the film in front of audiences!”

The Friendship Game is a Scythia Films production in association with Social Construct, produced by Bekerman (The Witch, Falling) and executive producer Zak Kilberg (The Mauritanian). Ward and Betsy Rodgers from RLJE Films negotiated the deal with Executive Producer Tannaz Anisi of 13 Films on behalf of the filmmakers.

RLJE Films will release the film in theaters, on demand and digital this coming November 11, 2022.
