Back in 2007 directors and co-writers, Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza teamed up to film a found footage film in Barcelona, Spain. On its initial release, [REC] received critical acclaim in Spain before its popularity began to infect the world just like the devasting virus at its core making a gross of $32,492,948 worldwide.
For those unaware of the film, [REC] is a found footage film told from the perspective of a camera man working with a reporter. Together they are quarantined by the local authorities in an apartment building that they don’t know and are forced to fight for their lives when a mysterious virus begins to infect the residents one-by-one.
After an incredible success worldwide, two sequels were made which expanded on the [REC] universe, Jaume Balagueró is back with [REC] 4: Apocalypse which will serve as the final instalment to this terrifying franchise. Details about the film have been kept under wraps until now as the first trailer for [Rec] 4 has been released online and we are excited to share it with you.
There is no offical UK release set yet but we here at Cinema Chords are excited for what Balagueró has in store for his fans.
