Paramount+ Drama “Happy Face”: When a Convicted Serial Killer’s Daughter Seeks the Truth (Trailer)

Paramount+ has today released the official trailer for its upcoming original drama series, “Happy Face.” The eight-episode season is scheduled to premiere on Friday, March 21st in the U.K. and Thursday, March 20th in the U.S., with subsequent episodes released weekly.

“Happy Face” is presented as a dramatization inspired by the real-life experiences of Melissa G. Moore, the daughter of serial killer known as the “Happy Face Killer.” The series draws from Moore’s personal narrative, the “Happy Face” podcast produced by iHeartPodcasts, and her autobiography, “Shattered Silence,” co-written with M. Bridget Cook.

The forthcoming show will depict Melissa, played by Annaleigh Ashford (Hold Your Breath, “Masters of Sex”), navigating her relationship with her incarcerated father, portrayed by Dennis Quaid (The Substance, Legion). The narrative focuses on the re-establishment of their connection after a period of estrangement and Melissa’s investigation into a potential wrongful conviction linked to her father.

The cast of “Happy Face” also includes James Wolk (“Watchmen,” With/In), Tamera Tomakili (Fruitvale Station, Opus), Khiyla Aynne (Nightbooks, The Trap), and Benjamin Mackey (Like Father, Like Son).

“Happy Face” is produced by CBS Studios in association with King Size Productions, iHeartPodcasts, and Semi-Formal Productions. Jennifer Cacicio serves as showrunner and executive producer. Michael Showalter directed the first episode and also serves as executive producer. Additional executive producers include Robert and Michelle King, Liz Glotzer, Melissa G. Moore, Conal Byrne, Will Pearson, and Jordana Mollick.
