Kid Kapichi Share ‘Worst Kept Secret’, a Fraught, Introspective Harbinger of Fearless Nature

Hastings duo Kid Kapichi have shared their new single, ‘Worst Kept Secret‘, the latest taste of their forthcoming album Fearless Nature, due January 16th, 2026 via Spinefarm.

The single follows a string of tightly packed releases from Fearless Nature – ‘Stainless Steel’, ‘Shoe Size’, and ‘Rabbit Hole’ – each steering into new territory without losing the band’s core appeal, with ‘Rabbit Hole’ landing a spot in our top singles of 2025. At the time of writing ‘Worst Kept Secret’, the duo were reportedly soaking up Richard Ashcroft and Unkle, and the track emerged shortly afterwards. Frontman Jack Wilson describes it as about “that nether zone of are we friends, or more? Both knowing it’s more, but neither able to fully commit or ask those questions.”

Fearless Nature marks a reinvention for Kid Kapichi. Line-up changes and a period of reflection have left the band more willing to test unfamiliar sounds while keeping the immediacy that has defined their work. “I personally was going through some of the darkest times of my life, and listening back now I hear that fear, but it’s also comforting to know how quickly things can change for the better … once you do, it gives you a whole new understanding of life and what people mean when they say they’re really struggling,” says Wilson.

He adds: “I’ve always looked outward for inspiration. The news. World affairs. What’s happening in our local communities … but this album was much more introspective, seeing your reflection as you look out the window rather than what’s on the other side.”

Fearless Nature was produced by Mike Horner and Ben Beetham (ex-Kid Kapichi guitarist), alongside the band, and mixed by George Perks.
