What happens when innocence collides with a destiny beyond understanding? That’s the question at the heart of The Carpenter’s Son, the French-American horror from Lotfy Nathan (Harka), distributed by Magnolia Pictures and arriving in cinemas on November 14.
Nicolas Cage (Leaving Las Vegas, Pig, Dream Scenario), FKA Twigs (The Crow, Honey Boy), Noah Jupe (Hamnet, A Quiet Place), Isla Johnston (“Invasion”), and Souheila Yacoub (Dune: Part 2, Evil Dead Rise) lead a cast bringing to life a story drawn from the apocryphal Infancy Gospel of Thomas. Moving between the human and the divine, the film explores power, faith, and the unknowable, weaving biblical allegory into a world that is as morally and spiritually challenging as it is unsettling.
Set in Roman Egypt, the film follows a family hiding from unseen threats. Cage plays the Carpenter, guardian to a young boy – “the Boy,” played by Jupe – whose arrival of another mysterious child sets off a chain of events that challenge both his understanding of the world and the divine. As the Boy’s extraordinary abilities emerge, the family must confront horrors that feel at once natural and otherworldly, blending biblical allegory with a nerve-jangling thriller sensibility.
Ahead of the film’s release, CinemaChords sat down with Nathan and Jupe, who reflected on the delicate task of balancing meticulous historical and spiritual research with a personal, visionary approach—and on Jupe’s challenge of portraying the Boy, a character caught between youthful innocence and a destiny that defies human comprehension.
Magnolia Pictures will release The Carpenter’s Son in theaters nationwide on November 14th, 2025.
