First Teaser Trailer for ‘The Carpenter’s Son’ Unveils Nicolas Cage in a Biblical Horror Spectacle

Magnolia Pictures has released the first teaser for The Carpenter’s Son, the highly anticipated French-American horror film written and directed by Lotfy Nathan (Harka), starring Nicolas Cage, FKA Twigs, Noah Jupe, and Souheila Yacoub. Already generating buzz for its audacious premise and genre-bending approach, the teaser offers the first glimpse of what promises to be an unnervingly ambitious tale.

Inspired by the apocryphal Infancy Gospel of Thomas, The Carpenter’s Son tells the dark story of a family hiding out in Roman Egypt. Known only as “the Boy,” Nicolas Cage’s on-screen ward is driven to doubt by the arrival of another mysterious child, ultimately rebelling against his guardian, the Carpenter, and revealing powers and a destiny beyond comprehension. As the Boy begins to exercise his own abilities, he and his family become targets of horrors both natural and divine, hinting at a horror story that’s equal parts biblical allegory and nerve-jangling thriller.

Filming began in September 2024 in Megara, where Cage reportedly survived a dramatic encounter with a swarm of bees in one of the cave locations—perhaps karmic payback from a previous role. Cage cast Noah Jupe after promising the young actor he would work together following Honey Boy (2019), and when The Carpenter’s Son came along, he made good on that promise.

“This is a genre-bending spectacle that defies expectations at every turn,” said Magnolia Pictures co-CEOs Eamonn Bowles and Dori Begley. The film was produced by Julie Viez for Cinenovo, with Alex Hughes and Riccardo Maddalosso at Spacemaker, and Cage on behalf of Saturn Films. Executive producers include David Levine and Nick Shumaker (Anonymous Content), Noëmie Devide (Goodfellas), Jennifer Venditti, Lotfy Nathan, Theo Vieljeux, and Eugene Kotlyarenko (Spacemaker).

With Cage at the centre of this darkly mythical tale and a stellar ensemble cast rounding out the story, The Carpenter’s Son is already shaping up to be one of the boldest, most talked-about horror films of the year.

The film is slated to release Fall 2025 AD
