‘Dooba Dooba’ Trailer Teases an Analog Horror That Lets Troubling Unease Do the Heavy Scaring

Dark Sky Films has debuted the official trailer for Dooba Dooba, an analog-style shocker from Ehrland Hollingsworth (Homestead), ahead of the film’s January 23 theatrical and digital day-and-date release.

Rooted in the analog horror aesthetic popularized by online creators and immersive found-footage storytelling, Dooba Dooba is presented entirely through in-home security camera footage. The film centers on a young woman who accepts what seems like a straightforward babysitting job, only to find herself drawn into an increasingly unsettling situation tied to the house and the child in her care.

Written and directed by Hollingsworth, the film stars Amna Vegha (Haven, How to Successfully Fail in Hollywood), alongside Betsy Sligh (“Found,” Homestead), Winston Haynes (“The Advocate,” Judas and the Black Messiah), Erin O’Meara, and Billy Hulsey.

Dooba Dooba has already built a strong reputation on the festival circuit. The film won Best Overall Feature at Nightmares Film Festival and Best Horror Film at Midwest WeirdFest, with additional selections and awards from Panic Fest, Unnamed Footage Festival, Another Hole in the Head, and Central Florida Film Festival.

Critics have praised the film for its formal experimentation and unsettling atmosphere. Screen Anarchy praised the project as “an inventive and thrilling found footage movie that proves the sub-genre still has room for formal growth,” singling it out as one of the most troubling horror films of the past decade.

Dooba Dooba opens in theaters and arrives on digital platforms on January 23.
