“Dexter: Resurrection” Interview — David Zayas & Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine on Justice, Reckoning, & New Blood

Paramount+ is gearing up to unleash “Dexter: Resurrection,” the blood-soaked return of TV’s favourite morally ambiguous serial killer. The Dark Passenger awakens once more this Friday, July 11th, when the first two episodes hit screens.

Picking up just weeks after Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) took a near-fatal bullet from his own son, Harrison (Jack Alcott), the new series sees the titular antihero coming round from a coma to discover Harrison has vanished. Haunted by the mess he’s left behind, Dexter tears through New York City on a fevered mission to set things right — or at least as right as a man like him can.

But redemption won’t come easy. Miami Metro’s Angel Batista (David Zayas) is on the hunt, and Dexter’s past sins are closing in fast.

Alongside Hall, Alcott, and Zayas, the star-studded cast features Uma Thurman, Neil Patrick Harris, and Krysten Ritter. Meanwhile, showrunner Clyde Phillips returns to steer the ship, having previously masterminded “Dexter” and “Dexter: New Blood.”

Ahead of the much-anticipated return to Dexter’s dark world, CinemaChords’ Howard Gorman sat down with David Zayas and newcomer Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine to dig into the fresh hell that awaits. Zayas reflects on how Batista’s crisis of conscience—having let Dexter slip through the cracks all those years ago—intertwines with Dexter’s own search for redemption. Meanwhile, Mwine, who takes on the role of Blessing Kamara, explains how his community-minded character becomes an unexpected force in Dexter’s tortured quest for absolution..
