Filmmaker Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) has lined up his next genre project, signing on to write and direct Final Boarding, a new supernatural horror feature for Sony Pictures label Screen Gems.
The film is based on a short story by Clarence Hammond, who will also produce the project. Story specifics remain undisclosed, though the screenplay will draw from Hammond’s original work as well as a previous adaptation written by Javier Gullón.
The project comes after Landon’s recent departure from the latest Scream, a move that left fans speculating about the future of the franchise. Final Boarding continues Landon’s streak of genre work. His last release, the claustrophobic thriller Drop, starred Meghann Fahy and Brandon Sklenar and was produced by Blumhouse Productions and Platinum Dunes for Universal Pictures, arriving in cinemas last April.
Landon is also attached to direct the thriller Blink of an Eye for Netflix. The script is written by Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs, based on a story by Landon. The film will be produced by Brad Fuller, Cameron Fuller and Michael Bay under the Platinum Dunes banner.
Besides directing, Landon also recently co-wrote and produced the horror-comedy Heart Eyes, another project developed at Screen Gems.
