Apple Confirms Lily Gladstone-Starring “Fancy Dance” To Premiere in Cinemas and Stream Globally This June

Apple Original Films has announced that Erica Tremblay‘s critically acclaimed feature directorial debut Fancy Dance, starring Academy Award nominee Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon), will premiere in select UK and Irish cinemas and stream globally on Apple TV+ from 28 June, 2024.

Directed by Tremblay, from a script she co-wrote with Miciana Alise, the film follows Jax (Gladstone) as she struggles to care for her missing sister’s daughter, Roki (Isabel Deroy-Olson – “Three Pines”), on their Tribal Land. Jax spends every spare minute searching for her sister while also helping Roki prepare for an upcoming powwow. At the risk of Jax losing custody to Roki’s grandfather, Frank (Shea WhighamJoker, Eileen), the pair take to the road to scour the backcountry for Roki’s mother before the powwow. What starts as a search transforms into a deeper investigation of the complexities and contraditions of Indigenous women navigating a colonized world while at the mercy of a failed justice system.

The cast is rounded out by Ryan Begay (“Dark Winds,” “Get Shorty”), Crystle Lightning (“Three Pines,” “Diggstown”), and Audrey Wasilewski (Everything Everywhere All at Once, “Mad Men”).

The film is produced by Deidre Backs, Erica Tremblay, Heather Rae, Nina Yang Bongiovi and Tommy Oliver with Lily Gladstone, Bird Runningwater, Charlotte Koh and Forest Whitaker serving as executive producers.
