Anchor Bay Entertainment Acquires Jeff Daniel Phillips’ ‘CURSED IN BAJA’ Ahead of Pigeon Shrine FrightFest World Premiere

The founders of the revitalized Anchor Bay Entertainment, Thomas Zambeck and Brian Katz, have secured the global rights to Jeff Daniel PhillipsCursed in Baja ahead of the film’s world debut at the prestigious London Pigeon Shrine FrightFest this coming August 23, 2024.

Writer, director, producer, and co-star of the film, Phillips is best known for his frequent collaborations with horror icon Rob Zombie, having appeared in five of Zombie’s films, including playing Herman Munster in the recent Universal reboot of The Munsters.

Cursed in Baja features a supporting cast that includes Barbara Crampton (You’re Next) and Jose Conejo Martin (The Tax Collector). The film follows Pirelli, a former lawman who travels to Mexico in search of the heir to a Los Angeles fortune, while also grappling with his own complicated past. However, what Pirelli discovers in Baja challenges him to his core.

Commenting on the pick-up, Zambeck says, “We’re thrilled to bring Jeff and his vision into the Anchor Bay family … Cursed in Baja is an intense journey into madness, destined to take its place among the genre-bending classics that have come to define indie film.”

In addition to Phillips, Kent Issacs co-produces the project. Anchor Bay Entertainment’s Zambeck and Katz negotiated the deal with Cole Payne of Traverse Media on behalf of the filmmakers.
