A Hero Rises From the Ashes in First Glimpse at “Samaritan” Starring Sylvester Stallone

Prime Video has unleashed the official poster and new images for the hugely-anticipated action thriller Samaritan starring legend of legends, Sylvester Stallone.

Directed by Julius Avery (Overlord, Son of A Gun), from a screenplay by Bragi F. Schut (the Escape Room franchise, Season of the Witch, Velvet Road), Samaritan centers around thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon “Wanna” Walton – “The Umbrella Academy”, “Euphoria”) who has a funny feeling his mysterious and reclusive neighbor Mr. Smith (Stallone) might in fact be a legend hiding out in plain sight.

Twenty years ago, Granite City’s super-powered vigilante, Samaritan, was reported dead after a fiery warehouse battle with his rival, Nemesis. Most believe Samaritan perished in the fire, but some in the city, like Sam, have hope that he is still alive. With crime on the rise and the city on the brink of chaos, Sam makes it his mission to coax his neighbor out of hiding to save the city from ruin.

The cast is also rounded out by Pilou Asbæk (Overlord, “Salem’s Lot (2023), Dascha Polanco (“Orange is the New Black”), and Moises Arias (The King of Staten Island, “Jean-Claude Van Johnson”).

Commenting on this latest film, which he is also producing, Stallone said, “I love action films that also have heart. I wanted to be involved with Samaritan because this story has many layers that I think people can relate to. It’s something of a morality tale that is also very exciting to watch. We are thrilled that this will be seen globally on Prime Video where my fans and all audiences can enjoy it together around the world.”

Samaritan will release in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide on August 26, 2022 on Prime Video.
