Poirot Investigates a World of Shadows and Secrets with Chilling Effect in ‘A HAUNTING IN VENICE’ Teaser

This year’s CinemaCon in Las Vegas played host to 20th Century Studios unveiling the first teaser trailer for Kenneth Branagh’s supernatural crime chiller A Haunting in Venice.

Directed by and starring Academy Award® winner Branagh as famed detective Hercule Poirot, the film is written by Oscar® nominee Michael Green (Logan), based on Agatha Christie’s novel “Hallowe’en Party”. Taking place in eerie post-World War II Venice on All Hallows’ Eve, famed detective Hercule Poirot, now retired and living in self-imposed exile in the world’s most glamorous city, reluctantly attends a séance in a decaying, haunted palazzo. When one of the guests is murdered, the detective is thrust into a sinister world of shadows and secrets.

In addition to the teaser trailer debut, Branagh also revealed that celebrated Icelandic composer Hildur Guđnadóttir, who won an Oscar, Golden Globe®, GRAMMY® and BAFTA for Joker and an Emmy® and GRAMMY for “Chernobyl”, and most recently scored TÁR and Women Talking, will score the film.

Reuniting many of the filmmakers who worked on 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express and 2022’s Death on the Nile, the film is produced by Branagh, Judy Hofflund, Ridley Scott and Simon Kinberg, with Louise Killin, James Prichard and Mark Gordon serving as executive producers. A stellar ensemble cast portrays a roster of unforgettable characters, including Branagh, Kyle Allen (Rosaline), Camille Cottin (“Call My Agent”), Jamie Dornan (Belfast), Tina Fey (“30 Rock”), Jude Hill (Belfast), Ali Khan (6 Underground), Emma Laird (“Mayor of Kingstown”), Kelly Reilly (“Yellowstone”), Riccardo Scamarcio (Caravaggio’s Shadow) and recent Oscar-winner Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once).

A Haunting in Venice opens in theaters nationwide on September 15, 2023. In the meantime, we’ll leave you with a taste of Branagh’s latest adaptation of one of Christie’s classic murder mystery, this time with a terrifying twist in the tale.
