Vértigo Releasing Drops Trailer for Luna Carmoon’s Unsettling Tale of Repressed Trauma and Grief, ‘HOARD’

Vertigo Releasing’s has just dropped the official trailer for the emotionally captivating cinematic experience Hoard. Directed by self-taught writer-director Luna Carmoon in her directorial debut, Hoard held its world premiere at the prestigious 80th Venice International Film Festival in September 2023, where it generated significant buzz and acclaim. It went on to receive its UK premiere at the BFI London Film Festival in October 2023, further cementing its status as one of the most talked-about independent films of the year.

Written and directed by Carmoon and starring Saura Lightfoot Leon (“Masters of the Air”), Hayley Squires (Beau is Afraid), Joseph Quinn (“Stranger Things,” A Quiet Place: Day One), Lily-Beau Leach, and Samantha Spiro (“Sex Education”), takes place in 1984 London. Seven-year-old Maria and her mother live in their own loving world built on sorting through bins and collecting shiny rubbish. One night, their world falls apart, and we join Maria a decade later, now living with her foster mother. An older stranger named Michael then enters their home, opening the door to past trauma, magic, and madness.

Hoard is produced by Delaval Film, Erebus Pictures, and Anti-Worlds, with producers Loran Dunn, Helen Simmons, and Andy Starke. Backed by the British Film Institute (BFI) and BBC Film, it will open in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on Friday, May 17th, 2024.
