TRAILER: “The Diamond Heist” – Guy Ritchie Unveils the Bold 2000 Attempt to Steal a £350 Million Gem

On April 16th, Netflix will release “The Diamond Heist,” a three-part documentary series exploring one of the most daring heist attempts in recent British history. The show, from executive producer Guy Ritchie and Academy Award and Emmy-winning producers Lightbox, follows a group of South-East London criminals as they plan to steal the £350 million Millennium Star Diamond from the Millennium Dome in 2000.

The recently released trailer for the documentary offers a first glimpse into the high-stakes world of the heist, showcasing the audacity of the criminals’ plan and the dramatic tension as they attempt to pull off one of the largest diamond thefts ever attempted. Using a bulldozer to ram-raid the Dome in broad daylight, the criminals planned to escape by speedboat down the Thames with the diamond. However, the police, specifically the Flying Squad, were already monitoring their every move.

The documentary takes viewers inside the minds of the criminals and the law enforcement officers working tirelessly to stop them. Told from both the criminals’ perspective and that of the police, the series delves into the planning, execution, and eventual failure of the heist. The trailer builds anticipation by offering glimpses of these two sides: the criminals’ complex schemes and the close calls with law enforcement.

Directed by Jessie Vile (“The Ripper,” “Curse of the Chippendales”), “The Diamond Heist” includes contributions from key figures involved in the case, including Lee Wenham, Beth Wenham, John Swinfield (Swini), Martin Heslop KC, and Neil Wallis. Their firsthand accounts help bring the gripping story to life, giving audiences a deeper understanding of the risks involved and the intricate operation that was ultimately responsible for foiling the heist.

In addition to exploring the criminal plot, the series provides an in-depth look at how the Flying Squad went about investigating the case, shedding light on the methods used by law enforcement to prevent the theft of such a valuable asset.

If you’re a fan of true crime and high-stakes heists, “The Diamond Heist” is definitely one to watch. The trailer teases a suspense-filled series, packed with unexpected twists, as it tells the story of a bold heist that nearly went down as one of the most audacious crimes in history.

“The Diamond Heist” will be available to stream on Netflix starting April 16th.
