‘THE PENGUIN LESSONS’ Trailer: Steve Coogan Brings True Story to Life in Funny and Poignant Memoir-Inspired Film

The official trailer for the comedy-drama The Penguin Lessons, starring Steve Coogan (Philomena, Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa, Tropic Thunder), has just debuted, offering a first glimpse at what promises to be a funny and poignant journey. Set to hit theaters nationwide on March 28, 2025, the film is inspired by the true story of Tom Michell, a disillusioned Englishman who unexpectedly finds his life—and the lives of his students—forever changed by an unlikely rescue.

Directed by Peter Cattaneo MBE (The Full Monty, Military Wives, The Rocker), The Penguin Lessons follows Tom as he arrives in Argentina in 1976 to teach at a school, hoping for a straightforward experience. Instead, he discovers a deeply divided country and a class of students who seem impossible to reach. However, everything shifts when Tom rescues a penguin from an oil-slicked beach, setting off a chain of events that will transform his life in profound ways.

Alongside Coogan, the film also features Jonathan Pryce, Vivian El Jaber, Björn Gustafsson, and Alfonsina Carrocio. The screenplay is penned by Jeff Pope (The Lost King, Philomena), with the film produced by Ben Pugh, Rory Aitken, Andy Noble, Adrián Guerra, and Robert Walak.

The Penguin Lessons made its world premiere at the 2024 Toronto Film Festival and has also enjoyed official screenings at the 2025 Palm Springs and Manchester Film Festivals, cementing its place as one of the year’s most anticipated releases.

Don’t miss the chance to experience this heartwarming story of transformation and redemption—mark your calendars for March 28, 2025.
