‘THE 4:30 MOVIE’ Trailer: Kevin Smith’s Paean to the ’70s and ’80s Promises Riotous Dose of Escapist Nostalgia

Acclaimed filmmaker Kevin Smith‘s (the Clerks movies, Dogma, Mallrats and Chasing Amy) highly anticipated coming-of-age comedy The 4:30 Movie is set to make its big screen debut later this month, receiving a limited theatrical release in select cinemas across the UK and Ireland starting on September 13th.

The movie will then transition to digital platforms, with a release on Altitude.film and other major streaming services scheduled for October 21st.

The 4:30 Movie is a deeply personal and nostalgic coming-of-age comedy written and directed by prolific filmmaker Smith. The film serves as a heartfelt love letter to Smith’s own cinema-going experiences in the ’70s and ’80s. Shot at a New Jersey cinema he co-owns, the story follows a trio of 16-year-old best friends who spend their Saturdays indulging in their shared passion – sneaking into the local multiplex to catch the latest big-screen releases. However, the carefree dynamic of the group is disrupted as each teen is forced to confront complex and conflicting emotions surrounding the universal trials of life and love before the final credits roll.

The film stars Justin Long (who previously starred in Smith’s horror film Tusk), Jason Lee (Chasing Amy, Alvin and the Chipmunks). It also features four up-and-coming talents: Nicholas Cirillo (“Outer Banks”), Reed Northrup (“High Maintenance”), Austin Zajur (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, Clerks III), and Siena Agudong (“Resident Evil”), together with cameo appearances from the likes of Sam Richardson (“Ted Lasso”, Werewolves Within) as wrestler Major Murder, and Ken Jeong of The Hangover franchise fame as the cinema manager.

Ahead of the film’s release next week, we’re excited to share the trailer, which offers a tantalizing glimpse of this delightful slice of escapist nostalgia that’s guaranted to leave you beaming.
