MGM+ and Prime Video have announced the release dates for “Spider-Noir,” along with the first official trailer. The live-action series will premiere on MGM+’s linear channel on May 25, followed by a global launch on Prime Video on May 27, with all episodes available for streaming at once.
The show will offer two versions of each episode: one in black and white and one in full color. The “True-Hue Full Color” trailer and “Authentic Black & White” footage have been made available online.
“Spider-Noir” adapts the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir, centering on Ben Reilly (Nicolas Cage), a private investigator in 1930s New York who was once the superhero known as “The Spider.” Following a personal tragedy, Reilly abandoned his heroic identity. The series follows him as he navigates a high-profile case that draws him back into the role of the city’s lone vigilante.
The series also stars Lamorne Morris as Robbie Robertson, Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy, and Karen Rodriguez as Janet. Additional cast members include Abraham Popoola (“Atlas,” “Slow Horses”), Jack Huston (“Boardwalk Empire,” “Day of The Fight”), and Brendan Gleeson (“The Banshees of Inisherin,” “Harry Potter”). Guest appearances feature Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, Amanda Schull, Andrew Caldwell, Amy Aquino, Andrew Robinson, and Kai Caster.
Production is handled by Sony Pictures Television exclusively for MGM+ and Prime Video. Emmy-winning director Harry Bradbeer (“Fleabag,” “Killing Eve”) directed and executive produced the first two episodes. Co-showrunners Oren Uziel (“The Lost City,” “22 Jump Street”) and Steve Lightfoot (“Marvel’s The Punisher,” “Shantaram”) also serve as executive producers. The series was developed with Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, who previously worked on “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” with Lord, Miller, and Pascal executive producing alongside Aditya Sood, Dan Shear, Nicolas Cage, and Pavlina Hatoupis.
