Everyone seems to have designs for London of late. The capital almost met its fate in the recent Red 2, 24‘s Jack Bauer’s is about to experience yet another day of hell there band and now Nu Image and Millennium Films have confirmed that all the lead players from Olympus Has Fallen will reprise their roles for a sequel, London Has Fallen. Said protagonists include Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, and Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett and Radha Mitchell.
The screenwriting duo of the original, Katrin Benedikt and Creighton Rothenberger, have also been confirmed to be back on board although director Antoine Fuqua has opted out of this one with no new blood announced for the moment.
In terms of plot, London Has Fallen will find the original film’s leading cast attending the British PM’s funeral in London when a band of terrorists plot to strike London. Ultimately, POTUS (Eckhart) and his Secret Service bodyguard Mike Banning (Butler) join forces with an MI6 agent to prevent the terrorists from having their way.
Production is scheduled to start in London on May 5, 2014. We’re particularly interested to see which director will hop on board and will provide more info as and when it comes out.
