New PROJECT HAIL MARY Trailer Showcases Ryan Gosling in a Sci-Fi Adventure Brimming With Cosmic Awe and All the Feels

Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled a brand-new trailer for Project Hail Mary, delivering fresh footage from the eagerly awaited screen adaptation of Andy Weir’s acclaimed sci-fi novel. The film is slated to arrive in cinemas on March 20, 2026, and the latest preview highlights its mix of cosmic spectacle, emotional intensity, and high-stakes suspense.

Ryan Gosling (Barbie, Drive) stars as Ryland Grace, a former science teacher who awakens alone aboard a spacecraft with no memory of who he is or why he’s there. As his recollections slowly knit themselves back together, he discovers that he has been dispatched on a mission that could determine the fate of Earth as it faces a catastrophic solar threat. The movie is adapted from Weir’s 2022 Hugo Award–nominated novel, celebrated for its grounded scientific detail and gripping narrative momentum.

At the helm are Phil Lord & Christopher Miller (The LEGO Movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse). With Project Hail Mary, they pivot into more dramatic territory while retaining their hallmark blend of intelligence and imagination. The screenplay comes from Drew Goddard, whose experience shaping The Martian makes him a natural match for another science-driven survival story.

The plot tracks Grace’s evolution from bewildered lone survivor to reluctant savior as he works to unravel the mystery of a dying sun and find a solution before humanity’s time runs out. Along the way, he forms an unexpected bond with an extraterrestrial ally whose cooperation may be essential to preventing global extinction.

Joining Gosling are Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall), Lionel Boyce (The Bear), Ken Leung (Lost), and Milana Vayntrub.

The film is produced by Amy Pascal, Lord, Miller, Aditya Sood, Rachel O’Connor, Andy Weir, and Gosling, with Patricia Whitcher, Drew Goddard, Sarah Esberg, Lucy Kitada, Nikki Baida, and Ken Kao serving as executive producers.
