Sumerian Pictures has released the official trailer for Chandler Levack’s (I Like Movies) sophomore feature, Mile End Kicks, which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and is set for its U.S. premiere at SXSW.
Written and directed by Levack, the film features an ensemble cast including Barbie Ferreira (House of Spoils, Nope), Devon Bostick (“FUBAR”, Salvation), Stanley Simons (The Iron Claw, Rocky’s), Juliette Gariépy (Red Rooms, Two Women), and Jay Baruchel (Humane, BlackBerry).
Set within Montreal’s 2011 indie music scene, the story follows a 24-year-old music critic who becomes romantically involved with members of an indie band she has decided to publicize.
The film has garnered early critical acclaim across the board, currently standing at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes from 16 reviews. RogerEbert.com praises the film for how it “relatably explores what happens when we conflate work performance with our goodness as a person,” while Screen Rant notes that the film is “filled with heartfelt moments and hardships”, adding that, “Levack’s film plays like a new music album that is familiar yet exciting.”
Mile End Kicks is produced by Pat Kiely, Matthew Miller, and Julie Groleau, with executive producers Barbie Ferreira, Matt Johnson, Brian Alkerton, Adrian Love, Olivia Nasner, Tim Ringuette, Timo Argillander, Nate Bolotin, Todd Brown, Andrews Scarso, Fraser Ash, Niv Fichman, Kevin Krikst, Haley Vickers, and Ian Webb.
The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on April 17, 2026.
