Lee Wylding’s The Far North Share First Single from ‘Songs For Healing Hearts’ EP

The Far North have dropped a brand-new single, ‘Home Sweet Home,’ marking the first track to be released from the band’s latest EP, ‘Songs For Healing Hearts’.

With its raw, emotive vocals and mellow instrumentation, the latest single brings a real nostalgic edge to it, complete with stadium-worthy electrified guitar solos and tender, thought-provoking lyrics, but retaining a rockier edge.

Representing the solo endeavours of English singer/songwriter Lee Wylding, The Far North emerged in June 2019 as a vehicle for the artist’s more retrospective acoustic work. After first gaining some attention as the frontman of Runcorn-based British Americana band The Fireflys (2007-2019), following the band’s break-up, Wylding began negotiations with acclaimed British producer Nigel Stonier (Joan Baez, Robert Plant, Martha Wainwright, Lindisfarne, The Waterboys, Fairport Convention).

After demoing around 25 songs, the pair began working on The Far North’s debut album “Songs For Gentle Souls”, at Manchester’s Airtight Studios and released the same under Red Lantern Records.

Influenced by artists such as City & Colour, Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen, The Far North’s music focuses on the personal and direct areas of Lee’s amazing songwriting capabilities.

The band’s debut single “This House Is Ours” gained national airplay by Chris Hawkins on BBC Radio 6 Music and the debut performance was at Old Trafford stadium in early March 2020. “Songs for Gentle Souls” also reached #1 on Amazon &  iTunes/Apple Music.

Commenting on the latest single, Wylding said, “I wrote this song a few years ago during lockdown, I had the chorus straight away and then wrote the verses and middle eight a little while later, I think there’s a slight romanticism in the mundane minutiae of life, especially when we live in a world of social media screaming at us to ” Travel more, have more fun, work out more, drive a nicer car, buy a bigger house, live laugh love” I find all that is sensationalised because there’s absolutely nothing wrong with living a normal life, sitting in the garden, enjoying a book and a cup of tea, or a walk somewhere local with a friend, everybody wants to be famous now, and I’m all for people wanting to better themselves but we shouldn’t be made to feel like failures if we are making ends meet in a biscuit factory.”

‘Home Sweet Home’ was written and composed by Lee Wylding and features him on all vocals and instrumentals throughout. The track was recorded at Allo Sound and produced by Lee Wylding & Jono Tringham. The single (and the whole EP – which you can hear here) is released under Red Lantern Records.
