‘LEE’ Trailer Portrays Unbridled Tenacity of Correspondent Lee Miller in Exposing Hitler’s Diabolical Regime

Roadside Attractions and Vertical have dropped the official trailer for award-winning Cinematographer Ellen Kuras’ directorial feature, Lee; a film chronicling a pivotal decade in the life of American war correspondent and photographer, Lee Miller (played by Kate Winslett). Miller’s exceptional talent and fierce determination produced some of the 20th century’s most enduring war images, including her iconic photo where she posed boldly in Hitler’s personal bathtub..

Miller had a deep understanding of and compassion for women and the voiceless victims of war, as evidenced in her images that capture both the fragility and ferocity of the human experience. Most of all, the film illustrates how Miller relentlessly pursued the truth throughout her life, no matter the personal cost.

Written by Liz Hannah (“Mindhunter,” “The Girl From Plainville”), Marion Hume (Lee Miller – A Life on the Front Line), and John Collee (Monkey Man, “Boy Swallows Universe”), the film traces former Vogue cover model Miller’s journey as a photojournalist to the front lines of World War II, where she endeavors to unveil Nazi Germany’s concealed realities. However, in the wake of betrayal, she is forced to confront a traumatic, long-buried secret from her childhood.

Winslet previously worked with Kuras on Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and A Little Chaos, on which Kuras served as the cinematographer. Winslet and Kuras had talked about collaborating further, and the opportunity finally came about with this film.

The film boasts an extensive ensemble cast including Josh O’Connor (Challengers, Emma.), Andrea Riseborough (Amsterdam, Possessor), Andy Samberg (Palm Springs, Pop Star), Alexander Skarsgård (Infinity Pool, The Northman), and Marion Cotillard (Blood Ties, The Dark Knight Rises). Serving as producers on the filme are Kate Solomon, Kate Winslet, Troy Lum, Andrew Mason, Marie Savare, and Lauren Hantz.

Roadside Attractions and Vertical will release Lee exclusively in theaters on September 27th, 2024.
